Centrifugal Ultra-filtration

Abstract

IN the course of preparing ultra-filtrates from blood and plasma for the purpose of estimating amino-acids, we have found that serious losses can occasionally occur when collodion sacs are used. Individual amino-acid concentrations in the ultra-filtrates from control aqueous solutions containing no protein may often be reduced by 50 per cent or more. The amino-acids investigated were arginine, histidine, tryptophane and ergothioneine.
