Abstract

TITANATES of the perovskite type, such as the barium compound, possess ferro-electric properties at temperatures up to the Curie point, at which a λ-transition from a distorted to a cubic crystal structure takes place. Materials of this type possess high permittivities rising to a maximum in the temperature region of the transition. Beyond the Curie point, the relation between polarization and the applied field becomes linear ; the ferro-electric influence, however, continues to make itself felt within a temperature region extending well above the Curie point.
