THE third national congress of the Unione Matematica Italiana is to be held at Pisa during September 23-36. The congress will be devoted to a comprehensive review of the Italian contributions to mathematics during the last few years, and particularly in so far as they are linked up with the mathematical activities of other countries during the same period. In addition to papers on pure and applied mathematics, special sections will deal more particularly with analysis, geometricai mechanics, mathematical physics, actuarial mathematics and probability, geodesy, astronomical and astrophysics, mathematics applied to engineering, the history of mathe matics and didactics. The Unione Matematica Italiana cannot offer any financiai assistance to visitors ; but it is expected that expenses for the stay at Pisa will be low. All inquiries relating to the Congress should be sent to Prof. Luigi Berzolari, Universit√° di Bologna, Bologna, president of the Unione Matematica Italiana, who is acting as secretary to the Congress.
