Scattering of 100-MeV. Neutrons by Protons

Abstract

CALCULATIONS of the differential cross-section for the scattering of 100-MeV. neutrons by protons have been made, using an exponential-well potential V0 e-r/a with two values of the range a. The depths of the triplet and singlet interactions, determined from the deuteron binding energy and the cross-section for the scattering of slow neutrons by protons, were respectively 313.5, 191.2 MeV. for a = 0.5 X10-13 cm., and 98.4, 60.0 MeV. for a = 1.0 X10-13cm. The two cases of exchange forces and of symmetric forces were assumed.
