SPARKING processes control the development of the lighting discharge, the minute gaseous dis-charge in send dielectrics which can cause deterioration failure, the breakdown of measuring and pteetive gaps, and the operation of many types of switchgear. The subject-matter of the book under notice is therefore of wide interest. The book is divided into three chapters, in the first of which the classical theory of Townsend is critically examined.
