A Climatic Index


IT is generally recognized that one of the most satisfactory single-value climatic indices in estimating the efficiency of rainfall for the purposes of agriculture and plant ecology is the Transeau ratio of precipitation to evaporation from a free water surface1, or the Meyer ratio of precipitation to atmospheric saturation deficit2.
