A Polysaccharide from Gigartina stellata: the Isolation of Crystalline 2: 6-Dimethyl-β-d-Galactopyranose from the Methylated Polysaccharide

Abstract

THROUGH the kindness of Dr. A. P. Orr of the Marine Station, Millport, in supplying a quantity of Gigartina stellata which is used in the preparation of 'British Agar'1, we have been able to investigate a polysaccharide isolated from this material.
