Effect of Extracts of Heterologous Adult Tissue on Cell Growth in vitro and their Use in Wound Healing

Abstract

IN previous papers1 we have reported that the of the ability to promote the growth of cell cultures in vitro is common to extracts of various tissues and organs of adult animals, and that this property is independent rate of proliferation of the tissue from which the extract is made. Extracts of some mitotically stable organs of adult fowl (brain, cardiac muscle, smooth muscles) activate the growth-rate of chicken fibroblasts to a remarkably high degree.
