Whilst to the more academic among chemists individual chemical substances are mainly of interest on account of their properties, the elucidation of the finer points in their structure or for use in chemical reactions, there is also a large corps of chemists who, aided by engineers, technicians, physiologists and others, are engaged in finding a useful application of as many of them as possible to the better service of humanity.
