Abstract
IN recent work on the deformation and fracture of metals under static and fatigue tests, it was shown that originally perfect grains were systematically dispersed into crystallites. The interesting feature of the process was the appearance of a lower limiting size, about 10-5cm., below which the crystallites could not be broken down further by the modes of deformation employed1.
