Further Experiments on Liquid Helium II

IN a previous note1, we reported our investigation of the formation of a thin film of liquid helium II on the walls of a tube which is in contact with it. A very rough estimation of the thickness of the film was made from the amount of heat necessary for its destruction; it was found to be of the order 10−5 cm. The object of the further research was a direct determination of the thickness of the film.
