Abstract
THE investigations of A. P. Dustin and his school1–5 have revealed an elective and extremely powerful karyokinetic action of the alkaloid colchicin upon the cells of certain specific organs and, in general, in all the germinative zones of animals, as well as upon the malignant tumours of the same. Dustin has also shown that this karyokinetic impetus is followed by an equally energetic karyoclasic effect upon the same tissues, and that this effect is specially marked in tumour cells, which are ultimately caused to collapse to a great extent under the influence of this alkaloid.
