Abstract
“DAS GROSSE Moos” is the name of the extensive plain lying between the lakes of Neuenburg (Neu-chatel), Bieler (Bienne) and Murten (Morat) in western Switzerland at the foot of the Jura range. The area has been subjected to considerable floodings, to remedy which artificial drainage on a considerable scale has been undertaken and has led to the lowering of the water-level in all the lakes and an increase in cultivated land. The volume under notice includes a very full account of the existing ecology and of the history of the area.
