Abstract
THE association between large anemones and brightly coloured fish is so common in all the Indo-Pacific area that it has been noted many times, though strangely Rüppell, who described both the fish and the anemone of the Red Sea in 1828, does hot note their association. The latest mention by Yonge in “A year on the Great Barrier Reef” describes and illustrates the association between the fish Actinicola percula and the anemone Stoichactis, but here, in the vicinity of the Biological Station of the University of Egypt in the Red Sea, both species are different, the fish being Amphiprion bicinctus (Rüppell) and the anemone Actinia quadricolor (Rüppell).
