Abstract
IN connexion with the correspondence in NATURE1 on the effect of yeast extract on plant growth, writers upon this subject may be interested to know that yeast has for a long time been recognised as a fertiliser on the Keuper Marls around Burton–on–Trent. Thirty years ago it was a very common dressing on grassland, giving an effect resembling that of nitro genous manure.
