Abstract
RECENTLY we showed1 that the four ergot alkaloids (ergotoxine, ergotinine, ergotamine and ergotaminine) by treatment with alcoholic potassium hydroxide give rise to a crystalline base ergine, which constitutes about half the parent molecule.
