Abstract
MEASUREMENTS of the dimensions of cross-sections of cotton hairs have been obtained by us at Gîza, in some preliminary studies for technological purposes, of different pure lines of Egyptian cotton. On plotting correlation diagrams between the thickness of the cell wall and the ‘ribbon width’ (the maximum diameter of the collapsed cell tube) we have detected several facts which are of exceptional interest to plant physiology as well as to technology. A characteristic diagram is here reproduced (Fig. 1). FIG. 1.
