Abstract
WE have long needed an authoritative work on the Bushmen and Hottentots of South Africa. The former are an extremely important people for the ethnologist, and from them the Hottentots cannot be dissociated physically or culturally; hence the composite name “Khoisan” adopted by the auther—K hoi = Hottentot and San = Bushman. We are therefore grateful to Dr. Schapera for taking the trouble to assemble all the available data concerning these peoples and therewith to make a trustworthy and interesting book which will be indispensable for students.
