SeMet enhancement of DNA repair as measured by host-cell reactivation of a UV-damaged reporter gene. Cells were transfected with the UV-damaged CAT reporter plasmid, incubated for 24 h under normal growth conditions, then treated with 10 μM SeMet for 15 h. Cells were grown for an additional 24 h prior to determination of CAT enzyme activity. Host-cell reactivation was enhanced by 2–3-fold in SeMet-treated cells compared to untreated cells; (a) raw data derived from ELISA of UV-damaged CAT reporter assay, in cells treated with 0–40 μM SeMet; (b) mean±s.d. from five independent experiments.
