Figure 5

Expression of FGF-1 and FGF-7 in normal OSE and ovarian carcinomas. Total RNA was reverse transcribed and the cDNA was amplified by PCR using FGF-1 or FGF-7 gene-specific primers and stained with ethidium bromide. DNA was then blotted onto a nylon filter and hybridized with a 32P-labelled FGF-1 or FGF-7-specific oligonucleotide. (a) Ethidium bromide stained agarose gel of normal OSE (lanes 1–4; 15–18) and ovarian carcinomas (lanes 5–14; 19–28) with FGF-7 specific primers. The product of lane 14 was directly sequenced to confirm its identity. (b) Southern blot hybridization of lanes 1–13 and 15–28 of panel (a) with 32P-labelled FGF-7-specific oligonucleotide. (c) Ethidium bromide stained agarose gel of normal OSE (lanes 1–4; 15–18) and ovarian carcinomas (lanes 5–14; 19–28) with FGF-1 specific primers. The product of lane 14 was directly sequenced to confirm its identity. (d) Southern blot hybridization of lanes 1–13 and 15–28 of panel (c) with 32P-labelled FGF-1-specific oligonucleotide. (e) Ethidium bromide stained gel of the same samples with GAPDH-specific primers
