Relative risk of nonhaemorrhagic and haemorrhagic stroke in cohorts from Japan and the People's Republic of China according to usual diastolic BP (Eastern Stroke and Coronary Heart Disease Collaborative Research Group, 1998). Logistic regression analyses showed a stronger association of usual diastolic BP with haemorrhagic stroke than with nonhaemorrhagic stroke (OR for 5 mmHg decrease 0.54 CI: 0.50–0.58, vs 0.61 CI: 0.57–0.66, P for heterogeneity 0.02).
