II.—On the Skeleton of Notornis Mantelli1 HITHERTO the rare flightless rail, Notomis Mantelli—the Takahe of the Maoris—has been known only by the two skins now in the British Museum, and by a few fossil bones, found associated with remains of Dinornis, Aptornis, &c.
