Abstract

WE can only this week join in the universal expression of regret at the death of Sir Charles Wheatstone, which took place at Paris on the 19th inst, at the age of seventy-three years. Inflammation of the chest was, we believe, the immediate cause of the sad result. The Paris Academy showed the greates interest in Sir Charles during his illness, and previous to-the removal of his body to London a religious service was held at the Anglican chapel in the Rue d'Agueneau, at which a deputation from the Academy was present. MM. Dumas and Tresca delivered addresses, which will be published in the Comptes Rendzis. Sir Charles was buried yesterday in his family burial-place at Kensal Green. We shall give a memoir in an early number.
