Abstract
Tight glycemic control in individuals with diabetes mellitus is essential to prevent or delay its complications. Present treatments to reduce hyperglycemia mainly target the ATP-sensitive K+ (KATP) channel of pancreatic beta cells to increase insulin secretion.
