Abstract
In recent years, it has emerged that guidance cues responsible for neuronal development also have crucial roles in vessel formation and maturity. Many researchers have drawn a comparison between an actively developing axonal sprout and a newly forming blood vessel, as both migrate, elongate or retract in response to cues from surrounding tissues and matrix.
