EGFR and HER2 expression predict outcome of muscle-invading bladder cancers

This article has no abstract so we have provided the first paragraph of the full text.

Elevated expression of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and related family member HER2 is associated with adverse outcome in many tumor types, and data from pre-clinical and clinical trials have shown a therapeutic benefit from blocking the activity of these proteins. Increasing activity of EGFR family members mediates antiapoptotic and proinvasive effects, and there is growing evidence suggesting the involvement of these proteins in tumor-cell resistance to cytotoxic agents.
