This paper reveals that, among hypertensive patients with a preserved GFR, those with PA have a higher UAE rate than comparable patients with primary (essential) hypertension. The key clinical questions raised by this paper are the following: How likely is a physician to encounter such patients in standard practice? Does hypertension associated with PA confer greater cardiovascular and renal risk than primary hypertension? Can PA be diagnosed easily in standard practice?
