Aspirin discontinuation raises the risk of adverse events in patients with CAD

Despite the well-established benefits of aspirin for patients with coronary artery disease (CAD), it is not unusual for these patients to discontinue the drug, either under the supervision of a physician or unsupervised. To identify the hazards associated with the withdrawal of or noncompliance with aspirin treatment, Biondi-Zoccai et al. carried out a meta-analysis involving 50,279 patients enrolled in six studies, three of which focused on aspirin discontinuation and three on adherence to/compliance with aspirin treatment.
