Although genetic factors are thought to influence the onset of myocardial infarction (MI), it is unclear whether genetic markers would be useful for identifying individuals at risk of early-onset MI. Shiffman et al. have carried out a stepwise association analysis of DNA sequence variants, or single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), in these patients.
