CHF due to left ventricular systolic dysfunction remains an enormous clinical problem. This is partly because it is very common—approximately 1% of the population has the condition—and partly because it is, or has been, highly lethal.1 Modern heart failure therapy does, however, offer the chance of approximately doubling life expectancy.2 A major health care challenge is to deliver that therapy to the at-risk population.
