Field triage and immediate transportation are now integral parts of the reperfusion strategy for patients after AMI; however, the debate on the optimum reperfusion strategy is ongoing. A strategy of primary PCI, thrombolytic therapy or a combination of both treatments has been proposed. The concept that time from AMI onset to treatment is the major determinant of outcome has been confirmed and is independent of the method of reperfusion.1, 2
