Calcium-channel-blocker response in idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension

There is evidence that high-dose calcium-channel blockers can prolong survival in a minority of patients with idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (IPAH). Only a small subset of patients show a sustained response to this therapy, however. Sitbon and colleagues have carried out a retrospective study to determine the proportion of IPAH patients who benefit from calcium-channel-blocker therapy, and to describe the clinical and hemodynamic features of these patients.
