Following on from the St Francis Heart Study showing that electron-beam CT coronary calcium scores independently predict atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) events, Arad et al. have investigated whether treatment with a statin and antioxidant vitamins can reduce the rate of ASCVD events in people with elevated coronary calcium scores.
