Transcatheter closure of patent foramen ovale relieves migraine symptoms

Migraine headache is more common among cryptogenic stroke patients with patent foramen ovale (PFO) than in the general population, and interatrial communication is thought to be involved in the pathogenesis of the condition. Reisman et al. have studied the effect on migraine frequency of transcatheter PFO closure.
