Antihypertensive agents and cardiovascular outcomes

Wassertheil-Smoller and colleagues have recently reported the results of their large US study on cardiovascular outcomes in postmenopausal women with hypertension. The aim of the study was to identify differences in cardiovascular mortality in women treated with the various classes of antihypertensive drugs, alone and in combination.
