Severe combined immunodeficiency
Severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) is a primary immunodeficiency disorder that is characterized by a lack of functional lymphocytes. Patients are extremely susceptible to infections and may have to be isolated in sterile conditions. This has led SCID to be dubbed the baby in a bubble syndrome.
