The pancreas is a large gland in the abdomen. It secretes pancreatic juices into the small intestine to digest food, and secretes insulin into the bloodstream to regulate glucose levels. The pancreas is both an endocrine gland (releasing juices directly into the bloodstream) and an exocrine gland (releasing juices into ducts).
