Blotting articles from across Nature Portfolio

Blotting is a technique for detecting nucleic acids or proteins by transferring them to a filter membrane. Molecules may be added directly to the membrane or separated by gel electrophoresis before transfer. Blotted nucleic acids are identified using labelled probes, whereas specific proteins are identified by immunodetection.
