Definition

Adrenal complex hormones are lipid hormones, derived from the small molecule cholesterol and generated by enzymes of the cytochrome P450 family in the adrenal gland that sits atop the kidneys. Example adrenal complex hormones are corticosteroids such as immune system hormone glucocorticoid, and androgens such as testosterone.
