Neuroscience

About this Group

A group for students and researchers alike to discuss matters related to the nervous system. I would urge researchers and graduate students to create topics and entries so as to make the group both interactive and resourceful.

What does neuroscience encompass?
Posted By: Navneet Vasistha
Neuroscience is perhaps the next boom in biomedical research. Infact according to Nobel prize awardee Eric Kandel, the next few decades will see more Nobel prizes in this area of biology.
That aside, what does neuroscience define for you? What areas or research do you think of when you think about neuroscience? It could be Systems biology, Computational biology, Anatomy, Stem Cells, Developmental biology... or anything else.
Write a few lines about it.

The increasing excitement in the field of Neuroscience is due to the progresses that have made it possible to unravel the mysteries of nervous system. Very little is known about Neurophysiology, Behaviour mechanisms and the nervous disorders. Due to existence of rather intricate machinery in the nervous system; there has always been requirement of more sophisticated experimental methodolgy as well as appropriate approaches. New findings are demonstrating existence of novel and different gene regulation and signalling pathways in brain. The neurobiology becomes all the more exciting while looking at its developmental aspect.
