Adhesion receptors
Like in the auditory ossicle chain (A), which connects the tympanic membrane to the fluid-filled cochlea to convey vibrations, the basic features of adhesion receptors include a molecular chain of adaptor proteins connecting the adhesion receptor's cytoplasmic domains (B: integrins; C: cadherins) to the cell cytoskeleton.
