Reduce Reuse ... RECELL?

This week my family and I traveled upstate NY, to celebrate Christmas and every year one of my little cousins find themselves destined for trouble. While running my six year old cousin, ran into a tree and a peice of bark punctured the right side of his face leaving a nasty scar. My U

ncle rushed him into the hospital, to later find out that the wound was treatable but the scar would remain on his face for a very long time.

After doing some research about how we could fix this, I found a website called Avita Medical. Forget about band-aids and ointments. Now you can spray on new skin. This sounds very cool in its' own odd way. Avita Medical developed a ReCell kit. Instruments within this kit allow you to treat burns, wounds and to improve the looks of scars. These tools will definitely bring a new look for the medical world. With the help of spray on skin you could eliminate the need for plastic surgery when covering up a minimal scar. Whether being used for vanity or medical purposes its truly an extraordinary asset. The cell suspension is what will be sprayed onto the area of interest and gives off new cells to your body to help promote healthy cell growth.

Although the process of applying the new cells may sound complicated, its really not. Here it goes; first you enter an operating theater, dependent on the region of skin you're having treated you may be put under anesthesia. Next your doctor will perform a minor biopsy close to the region of skin where you are being treated. Finally the ReCell kit gets to work, it takes your skin "separates, isolates and reactivates" the collected skin cells. This allows your skin cells to effectively work when applied as the spray to being their rapid growth. The new regenerated skin, has pure skin, simple texture and blemish free.

Still, I think the biggest benefit of this "spray-on skin" would be for those with dangerous burns or possibly fatalamounts of skin loss. Currently, the most common aid for dangerous burns is skin grafting. Most skin grafts are done with split-thickness skin grafts, meaning that the skin taken for the graft is taken from a healthy part of the victim's body (often upper thigh or behind). Those with really deep burns have a full-thickness skin graft. This means that the entire layer of skin (often from back or stomach/chest) is removed and placed on the injury. Though these lifesaving surgeries are certainly wonderful, this spray on skin could make an extraordinary difference in the lives of skin loss victims.

What an interesting idea! There are so many ways to reduce superficial scars, at least partially. Vitamin E and Cocoa butter are said to help. Silicone gell sheeting sometimes helps scars, (though it mostly prevent scars from getting worse).
