Bird of the Week: Double Crested Cormorant

I was surprised when I saw this unfamiliar bird diving for fish in Carnegie Lake in Princeton, New Jersey. Its orange face and striking turquoise eyes were visible even from some distance away. It would float at the surface briefly, then take a long 10-20 second dive, and bob up to the surface a short distance from where it began.
