Coronary calcium scores independently predict coronary artery disease events

A prospective, population-based study of 4,903 asymptomatic middle-aged people has shown that electron-beam CT coronary calcium score predicts atherosclerotic coronary cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) events independently of standard risk factors and with greater accuracy than standard risk factors and C-reactive protein (CRP).
