Finding the Fingerprints of Prostate Cancer. A recently developed reagent may represent a potent addition to clinicians’ arsenal for the detection of prostate cancer. Roughly two-thirds of prostate tumors exhibit excessive activity of the gene encoding the ERG transcription factor. A study published by Shiv Srivastava, Isabell Sesterhenn and colleagues demonstrates that cancer cells can readily be detected in human tissue samples using ERG-binding antibodies developed by their team.
