Fossil albatrosses reveal sea-level rise
Melting ice sheet swamped Bermudan colony.
Researchers have unearthed the first fossilized breeding colony of albatrosses. The bones were found in Bermuda - no albatrosses live there today, or indeed anywhere else in the North Atlantic.
