Kinase cogs go forward and reverse in the Wnt signaling machine

Trevor Dale

The author is at the Cardiff School of Biosciences, Biomedical Sciences Building, Museum Avenue, Cardiff, CF10 3US UK. daletc@cardiff.ac.uk

An important link between Wnt binding at the cell surface and nuclear beta-catenin–TCF–dependent transcription has been made with the identification of kinases that promote the association of the Wnt receptor and beta-catenin turnover complexes. Surprisingly, the enzymes implicated had previously been suggested to inhibit rather than promote Wnt signaling.
