Infectious disease: Male circumcision for preventing HPV infection
Abstract
Two randomized trials of male circumcision for HIV prevention have now reported on analyses of HPV infection, which was a secondary end point in both trials. The trials had similar designs: uncircumcised men were randomized to either immediate circumcision (the intervention arm) or circumcision delayed for 21–24 months (the control arm), and both trials detected type-specific HPV infection using Linear Array|[reg]| analysis (Roche Diagnostics).
