Neuroimaging: I see what you mean
Abstract
How is the meaning of words encoded in the brain? Answering this question would seem to require measuring brain activity in response to every word in the dictionary, but now Mitchell et al. have designed a computational model that can predict the brain activity patterns that are associated with thinking about individual nouns. The authors first determined the semantic components of 60 concrete nouns from 12 semantic categories, including animals, clothing, tools and vehicles.
