About the authors

Jeff W. Lichtman

Jeff W. Lichtman is Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. His long-standing interest is the development of the mammalian nervous system, and he has a particular interest in the ways that neural circuits reorganize in early postnatal life as animals first encounter and experience the world around them.

Jean Livet

Jean Livet started to study neuronal circuit development during his Ph.D. with C.E. Henderson at the University of Marseille, France. He then joined the laboratory of J.W.L. where, in collaboration with J.R.S., he spent his postdoctorate developing the Brainbow strategies. He is now starting his own laboratory at the Institut de la Vision in Paris, France, under the Inserm Avenir program.

Joshua R. Sanes

Joshua R. Sanes is Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology and Director of the Center for Brain Science at Harvard University. He and his colleagues study molecular and cellular mechanisms that regulate the formation of synapses in the vertebrate nervous system.
